Family Ties: Mitigating Churn in the Age of Streamflation
Session details:
While economic anxiety continues to rattle the majority of U.S. consumers, the market for TV services is more crowded than ever. Free trials, lack of contracts, and content shifting from one platform to another add fuel to the fire of churn, with viewers signing up and dropping services. Hub’s continuously fielded TV Churn Tracker has shown the proportion of U.S. TV viewers who are “very concerned” about the economy has not declined at all since the question was first asked in September 2022. In this session, Mark Loughney will present the latest Q1 2026 churn data, the implications for pricing models, subscription tiers, and the proliferation of ad-supported TV. Attendees will gain insight into the viewing behaviors of households with kids and the value streaming video and TV holds for families in uncertain economic times.
