Retention Engines in a Platform-Agnostic Discovery Experience

As platforms like Plex, CTV providers and others work on helping customers find what to watch next faster, no matter where the content is, retention becomes more complicated, especially when not the de facto in-household CTV. These platforms leverage universal search to help a user find what they want and take them directly to the content, but getting that user back isn’t easy. Product development, focused on deep personalization, leveraging meta data and AI, provides a compelling reason to develop a new discovery habit and platform preference. However, getting the users to come back to the platform – and keep coming back to the platform – with content that can often be off-platform is not easy. Panelists will discuss a range of strategies that drive the retention from social features to robust content catalogues and premium or exclusive content and the marketing and retention capabilities that come with them.
