Bio:
As President, CEO, and Board Director of DPAA, Mr. Frey oversees the global trade and marketing association that leads the digital transformation of advertising outside the home while working with brands and agency leaders promoting the medium's power and rightful place in the Omnichannel mix. Over his career in leadership media positions, Mr. Frey has overseen P&L plus helped build regional, national, and global media revenues and companies across all media forms.
DPAA has grown to be a business accelerator for its membership and a powerful sales agent for the sector. Comprising media owners, ad agencies, brands, and companies across content, programmatic, tech, data, research, and other areas, DPAA has built a global ecosystem that accelerates revenue for member companies and the industry at large.
Before joining DPAA in May 2013, Mr. Frey was widely recognized as a builder and leader in media and advertising. As architect, marketer, and chief revenue officer for Cablevision's advanced advertising TV business, he oversaw the digital transformation of its sales and digital product businesses. As E.V.P., he built the mobile, web, VOD, and addressable ad businesses, forming the country’s leading advanced TV operation and creation of new revenue streams.
Earlier, as Managing Director, International Sales and Business Development, USA Networks, and M.D. At Global Sales and Marketing, Hallmark Channel, Mr. Frey created some of the first multimedia advertising agreements while building and overseeing the global sales, marketing, and advertiser programming infrastructure for four television networks. He was an integral part of the launch teams that built The Sci-Fi Channels in the US and the UK, plus USA Network in Latin America and Euronews in Europe.
As Head of Media for the National Basketball Association (NBA), Mr. Frey drove TV, print, radio, digital businesses and marketing partnerships for the leagues, while reporting to NBA Commissioner David Stern. Working with broadcast partners and the world’s most senior marketers, Mr. Frey as Sr. VP NBA, re-invented the sponsorship and digital models for the sports league and its partners. At the same time, he helped launch NBA.com.
Mr. Frey has served on the Boards of Directors of Lamar Partnering Corp. and IRTS, and on the Advisory Boards ofSonenshine Partners Bank and Simulmedia Corporation. Barry is also a founder of POSSIBLE, the leading annual marketing event in Miami. He is a regular speaker at industry events around the world, including Advertising Week, Cannes Lions, CES, POSSIBLE, and more.
