Bio:

As Group CEO of Big Blue Marble, Michael leads the group's strategy and growth, drawing on deep expertise in terrestrial and satellite delivery, and large-scale media distribution to help media organizations simplify content delivery across broadcast, streaming and IP networks. Since becoming CEO of ORS Group, the technical services arm of Austria’s public broadcaster ORF, in 2005, he has transformed the company into an international media technology provider. 

In 2023, ORS Group merged with Insys Video Technologies, a leading provider of cloud-native streaming and cloud media solutions. This relationship deepened in 2025 when the two companies launched a new joint brand identity: Big Blue Marble. Focused on making media delivery simple, secure and seamless, the company combines customer-centricity, innovation and trust to serve as a flexible and reliable partner in today’s fast-evolving media landscape.

As a steering group member of the 5G Media Action Group (5G-MAG), Michael also champions 5G Broadcast as a key enabler of the all-IP future, transforming traditional broadcast networks into scalable, spectrum-efficient platforms for over-the-air live streaming.
