Bio:

Throughout his nearly 25-year career in the product and platform technology space, Hong Kwon has worked at the forefront of television’s evolution, bridging traditional television, connected devices, and modern streaming ecosystems to deliver intuitive, scalable experiences to millions of households.

Currently, Hong serves as Vice President, X1 and Xumo Platform Experiences at Comcast, where he leads strategy and product execution for the company’s Connected TV (CTV) operating systems. In this role, he focuses on advancing performance, platform reliability, and developer enablement while helping define how live TV, streaming, and internet‑delivered services converge across both retail streaming devices and MVPD‑led platforms. His work spans Comcast’s X1 platform as well as the Xumo’s streaming devices – Xumo Stream Box and Xumo TV – supporting distribution at national scale across multiple operators and consumer channels.

Over more than 18 years at Comcast, Hong has served in senior product leadership roles across the company’s core video platform teams, driving initiatives that have shaped the evolution of CTV at scale. His work includes the nationwide launch of XClass TV, now branded as Xumo TV, expanding Comcast’s platform strategy into the smart TV retail market; the development and deployment of the Xumo Stream Box across Comcast, Charter, and additional distribution partners; and the growth of Comcast’s app developer ecosystem, enabling greater third‑party innovation across the X1 and Xumo platforms.

Earlier in his Comcast tenure, Hong helped shape the digital evolution of X1, including major app integrations such as Netflix and Apple TV+ and live streaming experiences tied to marquee events like the 2016 Rio Olympics, reflecting his long‑standing focus on blending premium content with advanced platform capabilities.

Before joining Comcast, Hong was at Plaxo, where he worked on early social contact management and cloud‑based synchronization tools, and began his career in software quality assurance and performance engineering, including time at Netscape and AOL. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College.
